UK Lions Hockey was founded back in 2003 from the UK U13 Boys Regional Festival of Hockey Championships, where talented boys and their parents from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales came together to play against each other and to form lifelong friendships. Over the years a great many of the players selected to play for the UK Lions have gone on to represent their respective countries at junior and full international level. Fast forward to 2017 when we launched our first U13 Regional Tournament for Girls, and from it our first UK Lions Girls Team was born.
Today the UK Lions Boys and UK Lions Girls Teams receive high quality coaching from dedicated and qualified coaches. Players are generally selected for a 12 month period, which starts with selection at the respective U13 tournament in June or July and finishes with a combined tour in mid August the following year. During the year both the boys and girls teams are also given the opportunity to play top quality, competitive hockey matches at home and abroad. All of this is optional and parents and players can be involved as much or as little as they would like. There is no obligation to do anything.
The objective of the UK Lions is to offer exceptional life long experiences through playing high quality hockey whilst also offering the hand of friendship to everyone at home and abroad.

Quote from Brian Martin (father of GB player Harry Martin):
“It is great to see them still going! Graham (Bell) deserves a Knighthood for all his efforts!” (30th November 2014)
