Once again, The UK Lions were well represented at the Sultan of Johor Cup which took place at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Malaysia between the 6th and 13th of October. The eighteen man Great Britain U21 squad included Jacob Draper, Callum Mackenzie, Tim Nurse, Thomas Russell and Daniel West.
Great Britain progressed to the final after a tough round robin competition which saw them play New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and India recording three wins, a loss and a draw. Japan had a chance to make the final against India but were unable to win their last group match and Great Britain took their opportunity in the final to beat India for the second time in two days winning 3-2. Having gone a goal down early in the game, Daniel West reacted first to a half blocked cross from Jacob Draper to level the game setting Great Britain on course to win the tournament for the second time and improve on last years performance where they finished runners up to Australia.
Congratulations to all!
Thomas Russell, Tim Nurse, Jacob Draper, Callum Mackenzie, Daniel West
